In 2002, I began my journey as a real estate investor. I wholesaled, rehabbed, flipped, and held properties. It was a wild ride for a young, single woman with no kids. I bumped my head several times. But when the market crashed, your girl fell FLAT on her face! Like literally…the concrete and my face mashed together like mashed potatoes. And when I hit the ground, I HIT HARD!
It took me some time to realize that failures are really learning opportunities. Initially, I just found a corner and hid my head in the sand while life passed me by. But like Elijah, in 1 Kings 19:5, God sent an angel who said, “get up.” I had to quit having a pity party and regroup. I needed to change my game plan. After trying several other adventures outside of real estate investing, I had to return to my love; real estate.
However, I knew I couldn’t do things the same way and expect different results. Albert Einstein says that’s the definition of INSANITY.
So I pivoted!
That’s when I founded HomeShare Properties, to create a win-win-win for all game players. A win for me, as I cash flow SIGNIFICANTLY. A win for landlords, who simply desired reliable, paying tenants. A win for house members, who needed affordable housing in such an unaffordable market.
